From the 30th of July to the 2nd of August, a very important conference will happen. Tolkien scholars and linguists will meet up in Milwaukee for the 11th Tolkien languages linguistic conference, called Omentielva Minquea, “our 11th meeting” in Quenya.
Omentielva is a wandering conference, hosted at different universities in different countries all over the world. For the second time in its run, it’s coming to the United States in order to visit a very important exhibit hosted at Marquette University: the J.R.R. Tolkien Collection.
Scholars and linguists and general nerds from all over the world will be presenting their research, but since we’re all Tolkien nerds, we will be having fun as well! We’ll watch some movies, eat and drink like we’re Hobbits, and nerd out with the few people in the world that really get it.
The $395 fee covers the entire conference, including room and meals! If you can’t pay all at once, you can pay in installments. Doing that WILL NOT inflate the price of the ticket. Contact Bill Welden if this is what you need to do. I did that in the past in order to get to Omentielva Otsea.
An extra $80 gets you a room all to yourself.
If you can’t come, consider supporting with a non-attending membership, which is only $30.
Márienna!
